Nothing feels more like spring then a collection of spring flowers for the table…and it really doesn’t take much. Whether you cut flowers from the garden or pick up a couple of bunches at the store, a few stems go a long way.

Spring arrived late in our neck of the woods. Daffodils are just starting to poke through the ground where snow covered them just a week ago, so my flowers came from the store, but it has certainly brought the feeling of spring indoors.

Don’t feel restricted to just cut flowers either. I knew I wanted some tulips, pussy willow and a delicate purple flower. I found bunches of cut tulips and pussy willow but the purple Campanula was potted, so I just clipped what I needed. I will plant the rest in one of my urns outside when the temperatures are more consistently warm.

A collection of glass jars, small vases and pitchers are perfect for a casual spring display. I save glass jars all the time for just this sort of thing. The ones I used here were a vintage mason jar, a bottle from a Starbucks frappuccino, a jam jar, a Dijon mustard jar and a small white cream pitcher I dug out of the cupboard.

To make your arrangement cut stems to fit the containers you are using. Taller stems in taller vessels and short bushy ones in smaller containers.

I like to mix things up a bit so every container does not have the same selection of flowers.

Kids love picking/cutting and displaying flowers on the table, so don’t forget to include them. And don’t be surprised if the talk around the table is primarily about those flowers and the fun they had picking and arranging them.

Once you have finished filling all of your containers with flowers, arrange them down the center of your table for a lovely casual spring display.

Yesterday it was sunny and warm. Today it is raining, grey and damp. Typical spring. But having these flowers on the table sure brightens the room…and everyone’s mood.

Happy Spring!
